[Idea Place] Revise / Rebuild HMTL Text Interpretation in both CR product streams

There have been a number of IDEAs posted since 2010 about the current short-comings of "HTML Text" Interpretation in both streams of the Crystal Reports client-tools

  • Improve rendering of HTML Text field (D970)
  • Support for HTML tags in Crystal Reports for Enterprise (D6061)
  • Add bullet to the supported HTML tags in crystal reports (D2333)

Suggestions here on SCN also appear to have had no Traction - http://scn.sap.com/thread/3735770

All of them appear to be "Stuck" in the SUBMITTED state with nobody from SAP paying any attention to them.

It is now 2015 - and there has been little to no change on the HTML tags supported in a field with Text Interpretation set to "HTML Text" - and Crystal now supports ONLY some of the old tags that are now listed as "Deprecated" - eg. <u> for underline - by the Web-Standards organizations

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/present/graphics.html#edef-U

Therefore my IDEA is that Text Interpretation support for "HTML Text" needs a complete re-work / re-build to support both Legacy and Modern HTML standards in CRYSTAL REPORTS 2016 and Crystal Reports for Enterprise (4.2)

If you agree, please VOTE here on IDEA PLACE - https://ideas.sap.com/ct/ct_a_view_idea.bix?c=A5E8DEA8-D886-4250-BA2B-039F7D32FFC0&idea_id=B01EE739-9F9E-4100-9491-68578319D05C

I would also suggest that SAP revives the "ASUG Crystal Reports / Enterprise Reporting Influence Council" for CR-Users who are non-HANA back-end...as the CRYSTAL REPORTS 2016 and Crystal Reports for Enterprise (4.2) tools will need to be updated and refreshed over their next 7 + 2 years of Support to 2025.

We're not "Going Away" - so we need SAP to keep these tools "Current" with evolving Web-Standards, etc.
