We have successfully loaded the Product Hierarchy to BW using data soruce 0MATERIAL_LPRH_HIER to a hierarchy of 0MATERIAL.
However, our company does not use MATNR when referring to products, instead we use the term 'Part' and the SAP Material Identification table, MATERIALID, and input/output conversion routines in ECC to substitute MATNR CHAR(18) to - MATERIALID-MATN_EXT, CHAR(40) that closer resembles the manufacturer's part number. This works pretty well for order input.
We have included MATN_EXT as a field 0MATERIAL_ATTR and assigned as attribute ZMAT_EXT and set description as 'Part'.
and display the Part description as an attribute of 0Material in the query output
But the requirement is to be able to have the Product Hierarchy functionality by 'Part' (ZMAT_EXT) in addition to 0MATERIAL.
And not impact existing data flows using 0MATERIAL with global conversion routine.
