Hi Gurus,
I'm running into a specific scenario. I have tried to think through logically and verified the settings, but unable to figure out. can any one the gurus help out here.
Scenario: we have a plant A and two storage locations 1000 and NKCW. NKCW storage location is physically 20 miles away from the plant. 1000 storage lcoation is withing the plant (physically).
we want to maintain some stock in sloc 1000 and whenever the level drops below a certain point, we want the material reservation signal triggered and we want to pull the stock from NKCW sloc.
So for this to happen, i started down the path of maintaining the sloc MRP indicator on 1000 sloc as 2 on the MRP 4 view, reorder point and replenishment quantity.
the material in question is a component of a BOM of finished good. So with these settings, i do not see the dependent requirements showing up on MD04.
But if i flip this scenario exactly opposite, meaning if i maintain the sloc mrp indicator as 2 on the MRP 4 view of NKCW sloc, i'm able to see the dependent requirements coming from upstream components and also whenver the stock level falls below a certain level in nkcw (by goods issue) i see the purchase requsitions being created (since this materail is externally procured).
So im finding it difficult to understand why these two slocs are behaving differently.
Goal is that sloc 1000 (which is within the plant) should show both the dependent requirements and whenver the stock level falls below certain level (the component being consumed in production process) should trigger material reservation request from the offsite location (NKCW)
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ravi
