sap ui5 - after extending controller , how to get element id value?

hi

i am extending leave request application.

i extend s1 controller.

and trying to get value of reaming leave... but it unable to pickup.  how to get value.

this.remainingVacation = this.byId("LRS4_TXT_REMAINING_DAYS");

but not pick up value ..
